Internat. Decade of Soils

As one of the outreach activities during the International Decade of Soils (2015-2024) the IUSS has launched a book series.
These books are not only addressed to soil scientists, but also to academic students of other sciences. These books shall shed light on important soil issues related to other disciplines and global challenges.

IUSS representation at EGU General Assembly 2019

At EGU 2019 taking place in Vienna, 7 to 12 April 2017, IUSS will share a booth with ESAFS (East and Southeast Asia Federation of Soil Science Societies), ECSSS (European Confederation of Soil Science Societies), BGS (Soil Science Society of Switzerland) and DBG (German Soil Science Society). IUSS will present its Divisions and their most recent activities.

The most recent book in the IUSS book series of the International Decade of Soils (2015-2024) Global Soil Proverbs. Cultural Language of the Soil was published in the CATENA series GeoEcology Essays.
The book features an impressive number of proverbs compiled in 32 chapters from 29 different countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, and Oceania, sharing insights about philosophy, culture, and life in each country.

    Spring school on mapping and assessment of soils

    Wageningen Campus, the Netherlands

    ISRIC – World Soil Information will organise a Spring School on digital soil mapping, classification and assessment for soil and environmental scientists, students, soil experts and professionals in natural resources management. The spring school will take place at the Wageningen Campus in the Netherlands and will consist of two five-day courses that are run in parallel.
